I am so lucky to have a great friend in England who knew I would love this fabric...it is 100% cotton.
This is what I made from it, thanks to Laura at thimble.
I have found the fabric online, it is a Makower Fabric and is available from several British quilt shops such as Lady Sew and Sew and Exmoor Craft Fabrics.
Molly is my 5 year old Granddaughter and she lives a long way away. When we first met Molly, she was 2 months old, I took her for our first walk and we went to a quilt store, she slept through it but she still loves to go to quilt stores with me. She has her baby quilt, doll quilts, a Hallowe'en quilt and a quilted wallhanging but she is long overdue for a big girl quilt for her bed. When we visited last time we went to our favorite quilt stores and picked out fabric...all pink.
I am making log cabin blocks but not traditional ones. The centres are different sizes, the logs are different sizes but the finished blocks will be 12".
As I started making the blocks, I realized it was a lot of pink so now there will be sashing...with a bit of pink! Hope she likes it!
Quilters all over the world are making quilts for Japan. Thanks to the efforts of Northcott Fabrics in Canada, earthquake survivors in Japan will receive quilts made in Canada. My bee has been working hard the last couple of weeks to add to this wonderful effort. As I machine quilted a small quilt today I thought of the child who might get it, so far away from my sunshiney world. Will it make a difference? Will it be warm enough? Will it provide a bit of comfort?
My sewing room window looks out onto St Margaret's Bay, 5 miles across to Seabright, about 9 miles out to Peggy's Cove, one of those days when I could see forever. The water sparkled today with the bright sun and I thought of my own children and grandchildren and how lucky we are, to live where we do and to have quilts on our beds.
